Poor performance of MC due to absence of key players like David Silva

One of the primary reasons behind Manchester City’s inconsistent form in the 2015-16 season has been the absence of key players like David Silva.

The Spanish playmaker has been able to feature in only 16 league starts. This is in sharp contrast to the time when he was playing almost every game for the club since his £ 24 million move from Valencia in the 2010-11 season. Even though his goals and assist statistics have improved on a per game basis, his lack of minutes on the pitch has become a real problem for the club.

David Silva recently returned to the Manchester City

David Silva recently returned to the Manchester City starting line-up to provide a huge boost for manager Manuel Pellegrini.

The team’s inconsistent form this season has been attributed to the absence of Silva on a regular basis. The Spaniard has struggled with niggling injuries throughout the season. Another player in the team, Kevin De Bruyne, has managed to impress straightaway. Just when it seemed that the Belgian would form a great partnership and foil for Silva, they have not been able to pair them together due to the injuries to the latter.

TOURE HUNGER IS BACK

Yaya Touré appears to have got his hunger back after the midfielder stated that Manchester City are very keen on reclaiming the Premier League title from Chelsea.

The Blues have never managed to win the title in back-to-back seasons. This has often been attributed towards the lackadaisical attitude of some of the important players within the squad.

Yaya Toure

Toure was a major factor in helping the club win the league title during the 2013-14 season. He was once again a factor, but this time on the losing side, in City failing to be successful in the defence of the crown.

Manuel Pellegrini refused to cite the absence of David Silva and Vincent Kompany

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini refused to cite the absence of David Silva and Vincent Kompany has the reason for the defeat against West Ham United in the previous league encounter.

It was also their first defeat and it allowed the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea to close the gap. Just ahead of the game, the manager lost Silva to injury. His replacement, Kevin De Bruyne, scored on his debut and was hugely influential throughout the game.

David Silva is starting to benefit

Gary Neville says that Manchester City midfielder David Silva is starting to benefit from the immense availability of pace in the team.

The Spaniard has enjoyed a great start to the season and he was at his imperious best in the 3-0 win over Chelsea. After an indifferent last season, it looks like he is back to his best and this is good news for City. Even though they have spent a lot of money in acquiring new talents like Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne, the Spaniard has abundance amount of creativity that will help unlock tight defences.

Iker Casillas made a number of excellent saves

Iker Casillas made a number of excellent saves in a recent Euro 2016 qualifying match against Belarus to help the national team get a 1-0 win.

Spain are no longer the dominant force that they were once involved football a few years ago. They have been struggling to get to the top spot in the group. Slovakia are the unlikely leaders in the group C with Spain trailing them by three points with both teams having played the same number of matches. In this scenario, the 2010 world champions could not afford to drop any more points in the game against Belarus.

Manchester City have been boosted by the news

Manchester City have been boosted by the news that midfielder David Silva, who appeared to suffer a major injury in the recent win over West Ham, is back in training and could feature in the weekend’s match against Aston Villa.

Silva is one of the important players at City and he has been a creative force in the Premier League ever since his £ 24 million move from Valencia five years ago. After having seen their title hopes destroyed by recent defeats against Crystal Palace and Manchester United, City will now be focusing on a top four finish.
