SILVA TO MISS BASQUE DERBY

Real Sociedad playmaker David Silva has been ruled out of the Basque Derby clash with Athletic Bilbao billed for the San Mames on Thursday. Real Sociedad would be the guests of Athletic Bilbao in a week 16 match in the Spanish La Liga and David Silva won't be part of their squad as he continues to battle with muscle problems. Spanish newspaper Marca revealed that David Silva won't be back in action for Real Sociedad until after ten days thus ruling him out of the Basque Derby as pointed out earlier.

Apart from the Athletic Bilbao game, David Silva could also sit out the league games against Osasuna and Sevilla asReal Sociedadtry to maintain their spot in the top four places of the Spanish La Liga. Real Sociedadare the third best team in the league this season and that's more than enough to take the team back into the Champions League since the top four slots will guarantee a place in Europe's premier club competition.

David Silva has been pencilled in for a return to action ahead of the Supercopa clash with Barcelona. He was a key part of the Real Sociedad team that spent several weeks at the top of the Spanish La Liga table and the recent run of nine games without a win has coincided withthe injury problems suffered by David Silva. The 34-year-old Spanish playmaker has been in good form for Real Sociedadin his debut season for the Basque club and it's not surprising that he has been sorely missed. He has scored one goal and two assists in 11 games in the Spanish La Liga this season in addition to four extra games for the club in the Europa League. David Silva joined Real Sociedad on a free transfer in the summer after the expiration of his contract at Manchester City.
