SILVA DOUBTFUL FOR NAPOLI CLASH

Real Sociedad midfielder David Silva is a doubt for the Europa League meeting with Italian team Napoli on Thursday night after he picked up an injury shortly before the league game at the weekend. Real Sociedad would be guests of Napoli at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Naples tomorrow and they could be without David Silva for the game.

David Silva was at Premier League team David Silva for over a decade before he left the club earlier this summer when his contract expired. He signed for Basque club Real Sociedad on a free transfer shortly after his Manchester City exit. He has scored one goal plus two assists in nine matches in the Spanish La Liga. David Silva was on course to make his tenth league appearance of the season at the home of Alaves on Sunday evening. He was named in the starting XI for the game but the Ex-Spanish international was unable to play due to a thigh discomfort.

Roberto Lopez took the place of David Silva for the Alaves game which ended in a goalless draw as Real Sociedad failed to break down the hosts who finished the game with ten menafter Argentine midfielder Roberto Battaglia was sent off shortly after the hour mark. After the game, Real Sociedad revealed that David Silva suffered discomfort in his left thigh via a statement. The extent of the injury has not been ascertained.
David Silva's absence has coincided with Real Sociedad losing their place at the top of the La Liga standings to Atletico Madrid. Before the Alaves game, David Silva had missed some games due to injury. Without him in the team at the weekend, Real Sociedad largely failed to break down a resolute Alavesdefence and he's unlikely to be fit for the trip to Napoli in Group F of the Europa League on Thursday. Spanish international Mikel Oryazabal is also a doubt for Real Sociedad ahead of the game in Italy.
