ARTETA SPEAKS ON SILVA, ODEGAARD COMPARISON

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has had his say on the comparison between Manchester City legend David Silva and Arsenal playmaker Martin Odegaard. Arteta spoke about the comparison in his post-match reaction to the 5-0 away win over Norwich City. According to him, David Silva is the best that he has seen in the playmaker role and that Martin Odegaard has a long way to go before he can get to that level.

In recent weeks, Norwegian international Martin Odegaard has been compared with veteran Spanish midfielder David Silva who plays his football at La Liga side Real Sociedad in his native Spain.

Odegaard initially joined North London giants Arsenal on loan from Spanish giants Real Madrid during the second half of last season. The Norwegian national team skipper had a mixed loan spell, but manager Mikel Arteta was keen to sign him on a permanent transfer. He joined the Gunners permanently in a deal worth £30m.

Arsenal playmaker Odegaard has been one of the best players in the Premier League over the past few weeks. After a slow start to this season, Odegaard has established himself as the major creative spark in the Arsenal team on the Premier League scene. He had a return of three goals and three assists in six Premier League games in the month of December. The form of Odegaard has propelled the Gunners into the top four places on the Premier League log.

In addition to the chase for Champions League football next season, Odegaard and Arsenal are also in the hunt for the League Cup. The Gunners are in the semi-finals of the competition and they have a first leg clash to navigate at home later this week against Liverpool. The second leg of the Carabao Cup last four tie with the Reds is billed to take place at Anfield next week.
