SILVA IN DEFIANT MOOD OVER CITY

Manchester City legend David Silva was in defiant mood despite the outcome of the Champions League final. The Real Sociedad playmaker took to his official Twitter account several hours after the Champions League final to remind everyone that Premier League champions Manchester City are still the best team in England and the world.

David Silva and the Manchester City fans were left disappointed after the club failed to land the Champions League title at the end of their first appearance in the final of the competition. The Citizens booked their place in a maiden Champions League final via the 4-1 aggregate victory over French team Paris Saint Germain (PSG).

Manchester Citystarted the Champions League finalas favourites but were unable to beat Chelsea to win the competition for the first time thanks to Thomas Tuchel and his players.

Chelsea had won the Champions League title for the first time in history when they defeated German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich during the penalty shootouts in the 2012 Champions League final and they added another one by beating Manchester City 1-0 in the latest final of the competition thanks to the first half goal from German national team player Kai Havertz. The former Bayer Leverkusen attacker scored the only goal of the game on 42 minutes.

The Champions League final win over Manchester City was the third successive victory for Chelsea over the Premier League champions but David Silva still believes that his former team is still better than the West London giants. David Silva attained legendary status at Manchester City after leading the club to several titles during his time at the club.

David Silva spent a decade at the Etihad Stadium before leaving the club at the end of the penultimate league campaign. He went on to join Real Sociedad in his native Spain. Ex-Spanish international Silva was a key player for the Real Sociedad that qualified for the Europa League again at the end of last season.
