Spanish international David Silva was a major absentee as his Real Sociedad secured a late win over Granada to maintain their place in the top three on the Spanish La Liga standings. David Silva was not in the Real Sociedad squad that fought for the three points at the expense of home team Granada in a La Liga clash played this week.

David Silva missed a league game for the first time this season and Real Sociedad didn't miss the talented playmaker much as they battled to a hard-fought 3-2 victory thanks to the late goal from AritzElustondo who was the star of the game. Elustondo scored twice on the other side of the interval to lead Real Sociedad to their fourth victory in five Spanish La Liga games this term.

German Sanchez scored the only goal of the first half as the hosts established a lead at the half-time break. The goal from Sanchez came on nine minutes and Granada held on to that goal until Elustondo struck seven minutes into the second half. Ex-Newcastle United midfielder Mikel Merino gave Real Sociedad the lead for the first time in the game on the hour mark before Luis Milla pulled Granada back level on 71 minutes via the penalty spot. Sociedad and Elustondo will have the last laugh with his winning goal eight minutes from time.
Sociedad didn't have the best of starts to this La Liga season with the loss to hosts Barcelona on the opening weekend but they have showed character to bounce back from that defeat with fourwins and one draw in their last five league games. The victory over Granada took their point tally to 13 in third place and they are three points adrift of Real Madrid at the top of the table.
