Manchester City plan to swap Sergio Aguero for Alexis Sanchez

Manchester City are mulling over the prospect of offering Sergio Aguero in a proposed deal to sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal this summer.

According to The Gambling Times, the Citizens boss Pep Guardiola is eager to work alongside the Chile international, and he is planning an ambitious approach in order to convince the Gunners to sell.

Aguero was benched in place of Gabriel Jesus in the early parts of 2017, but an injury for the teenager enabled the 29-year-old to reclaim his place in the starting lineup. The Argentina international shared the duties with Jesus in the final weeks of the campaign as City secured Champions League via a third-place finish in the standings.

A recent report from The Express claimed that Sanchez had convinced his teammates that he will be leaving the Emirates. Despite this, the Gunners are unlikely to accept any offers from the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea with Wenger adamant that the attacker would honour the final year of his contract.

As per Gambling Times, Guardiola would be willing to part ways with Aguero in a potential move for Sanchez as he does not see the Gunners as potential challengers for the Premier League crown. It is added that the north London club will have no difficulties matching Aguero's wages, given his consistent showing for the Citizens over the years.

Despite his niggles, Aguero managed 20 goals and three assists in the top-flight last season, which was bettered by Sanchez, who scored 24 and assisted a further 10. City have vast riches behind their main striker with the likes of Leroy Sane, David Silva and Bernardo Silva to name a few, and next season promises to be a huge highlight of Guardiola's style of play after having brought in players of his choice to bolster the backline, which has looked fragile in recent seasons.
