Manchester City fans won't have expected IlkayGundogan to be leading their push for the league title as they would have thought more attacking players like Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus would be at the heart of their title challenge. Manchester City had struggled for goals in the opening weeks of the season and that affected their points tally until IlkayGundogan intervened in recent weeks. The German has scored seven goals in his last eight games for Manchester City in the Premier League.
