David Silva can be Foundations

With the arrival of Pep Guardiola on the horizon, it’s only a matter of time until the Spanish manager joins the Premier League club and takes control of the team which is currently being guided by Manuel Pellegrini.

David Silva, Sergio Aguero and Yaya Toure are generally considered to be the main stars of Manchester City.

Those 3 players are the key figures of the Etihad Stadium and Pep Guardiola wants to have them at his disposal when he arrives at the start of the season but unfortunately for Guardiola, it’s likely that some of them will be making their way out of the Premier League at the end of the current campaign.

Yaya Toure is rumored to be on his way out of Manchester City according to, while Sergio Aguero is currently undergoing contract negotiations meanwhile David Silva has a contract with City which extends until 2019.

From that list of 3 players, the only one that is going to remain with Manchester City at least until the next season is David Silva and if Pep Guardiola wants to have a successful start as the coach of City, Silva is a solid player who boost the managerial birth of Guardiola in the Premier League.

For the past few months, David Silva has been consistently targeted with criticism as the Spanish midfielder appears to be out of form but after taking a closer look at the statistics, it’s not Silva who has been struggling it’s his teammates.

During the season of 2013-14, Silva created 2.7 goal-scoring chances per game meanwhile in 2014-15, he provided his teammates with 3.12 chances and in the current season Siva has a tally of 3.2 goal-scoring moments. This is proof that Silva has been performing at around the same level that he has been for the past few seasons and it’s not him who has been underperforming recently, it’s his partner who just don’t seem to be at the same level.

Having a player who is able to play a fairly consistent pace throughout various seasons is something that Pep Guardiola wants to have when he arrives to the Etihad Stadium and Silva is a great building block for Guardiola to initiate his managerial career in Manchester City.
