Silva Relaxes After World Cup Knock Out

The Spanish players, these days, are trying to recover from their shocking exit from the FIFA World Cup 2014 by spending time with family and friends and David Silva is no different.

He was also seen enjoying with his buddies at an island in the eastern part of Spain yesterday.

Spain had been dominating in the big FIFA events since the last 6 years, but, this time around in the World Cup in Brazil; they couldn’t even pass the group round. They suffered defeats in their opening two games which put them out of the tournament.

They restored some pride with a 3-0 win against Australia, but, that result would not have healed the wounds of their fans.

Spain’s struggle in Brazil is not completely surprising. Quite a few of their players had started going downhill in the last couple of years and thus, people knew that they would not find it easy to retain the crown which they had won in South Africa 4 years ago, but, nobody had expected them to be unable to get even to the pre quarter finals.

Spain was being backed by the pundits to beat Chile and Australia without losing too much sweat, but, that didn’t happen. The Chileans with their pace left the defending champions absolutely stunned.

Spain’s failure in the first FIFA event in the last 6 years has now brought Vicente Del Bosque, the manager of the team, under the scanner. Some want him to be sacked, while, some not.

The former Spain international Pep Guardiola falls in the second category. He thinks that Bosque should continue leading the Spanish national side.

In Guardiola’s words, “Vicente should not be removed. I don’t think Spain can get a better manager than him at the moment.”
