David Silva Enjoying New Role at Man City under Pep Guardiola
David Silva has revealed that he is enjoying playing under Pep Guardiola because the manager gives him a lot of freedom than any other boss.
Silva is regarded as one of the best creative midfielder is in the Premier League and it is not a surprise that Guardiola has made him the fulcrum of Manchester City’s attack. Silva has three assists and one goal in the Premier League from the 14 starts that he has made. While it may not be comparable to his 2014-15 campaign when he made 7 andscored 12 goals, it is a vast improvement from the last campaign.
Silva had scored only two goals in the entire campaign, although he did come in with 11 assists. It was widely seen as a result of Manuel Pellegrini not promoting Silva as the primary source of chances, although the Chilean manager cannot be blamed much since Silva was not available throughout the campaign due to niggling injury problems.
The Spaniard appears to have gone past the period of injuries and he is now playing more regularly than ever before. Silva says that he is now more involved in the build-up and this may have been a result of his lower number of assists at this stage in the campaign.
"It is true that I am playing some steps further back sometimes because I have to help in the buildup. But Guardiola also gives me freedom to attack and be close to the rival goal and create chances, which is something that I really like. He gives me a lot of freedom and I am very happy playing in this role. The manager wants us to control the game, create chances in front of goal, control the rival team with the counterattacks, and be ready to neutralise that," said Silva.
